Has anyone else used Dr. Rodney Russell and did you find his recommendations comprehensive and helpful? Am considering a Skype session with him (I'm in Los Angeles, his in TX and CO). My only concern is he's not an MD, but an Chiropractor. Any experiences? How about other recommendations for supplement protocol physicians, esp. with multiple MTHFR mutations. Thanks!

Have you found someone to help yet. I am a functional medicine practitioner and nutritional therapist practising in the UK. Have growing experience of working with those who have done nutrigenetic tests. Running courses for practitioners also. Important to take a holistic view, using functional tests and not be tempted to treat the snps.

Hard to find a good doc when you don't mention location - my internist is fantastic, uses many treatments suggested by one of the best docs out there on methylization issues - Dr. Amy Yasko.

Her book is a must have for folks like us:

      http://www.scribd.com/doc/86457985/Genetic-Bypass-Book#scribd

Lots of stuff on the web about her, this is link to her site:

Diagram of methylization pathways, genes/snp's and relationship to Krebs and detox metabolism:

I take too many supplements to list them all (disabled from Lyme disease, CFS, MCS), but below are ones that have helped the most for the MTHFR defects - please take note - I am NOT suggesting or recommending anyone take these supplements without doing plenty of research and discussing them with your doctor first - taking too much of any of these at the start, or in certain combinations (taken at the same time), will make you herx like crazy, and may overstress liver/kidneys/GI system - finding the correct dosages and combos takes time and patience - it took me several years of tinkering to find the right combo for me ... More

I recommend John R.M. Day, M.D. at Haelan LifeStream Center in Crestone, CO. He is a retired surgeon who has been offering the best holistic care I know. Body-mind-emotion-spirit. Has a strong biochemical background and fabulous healing presence. He has a nice Retreat Center where many of us clients come to visit and work with him. Also does phone consults. See www.HaelanLifeStream.com. He is seasoned in all aspects of holistic and conventional care. His rates are really low.

I don't know where you live, but one thing that I think would help is having a great diet. I am taking the TQI online class now and am so totally impressed with the clarity of information, the focus of reducing inflammation in our diet and how I have eliminated snoring, GERD, aches/pains and unwanted pounds by following the elimination (core) diet plan. This is the Abascal Way plan - she has her plan in a book - I have no association to this way of eating except for benefiting with improved health. good luck.

I have had good results working with a nutritional therapist (who also has MTHFR). Contact Meredith@nourishedtable.com My sleep went from 4 hours to 7 good hours almost immediately and I began losing weight. The neck pain is related to what I eat and is worse when I cheat on the diet.

What country or state are you in? I have a doctor in Los Angeles that is good, but not sure if that is helpful to you at all.
